Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the 1st ESPE-ASPED school. The school is an initiative by the Arab Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (ASPED) in collaboration with ESPE. The school is aimed for Paediatricians who have completed their basic Paediatric training and who are currently either established in, or intending to develop a career in, Paediatric Endocrinology and diabetes. The school is exclusively sponsored by Novo- Nordisk/Gulf and is open for physicians practicing in the Arab countries. The course will be held over 6 days and will have a structured curriculum covering all main topics in Paediatric Endocrinology. The format will be in the form of interactive lectures, case presentations, research project presentation and critically-appraised topics discussion. The faculty of the school will include senior paediatric endocrinologists from ESPE and ASPED. The course will be conducted entirely in English and a good command of the language is essential. All students are expected to attend the entire course.

Special features of the 1st ESPE-ASPED school

To celebrate the first school, attendees will be invited to attend and participate in the annual ASPED conference with free conference registration. The total duration of the course will be 6 days with the first 3.5 days purely for the school which will be followed by the conference over the final 2.5 days.


The school will take place at the Yas Island Rotana, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Yas is a natural island which is about 10 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi airport and 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi downtown.

How to apply:

Application forms will be found on the ESPE website (http://www.eurospe.org). Applications should include a completed application form, a CV and a letter of recommendation from the department head/chair. Applications must be submitted exclusively by e-mail to espe@eurospe.org. Applications will be assessed by ESPE-ASPED school steering committee and successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Monday, 1st September 2014

Application deadline -June 27th 2014

Applications will be considered from applicants in all Arab countries. Fair distribution of spaces will be spread over different countries with consideration of number of applications from each country.

Dates, travel and accommodation:

The 1st ESPE-ASPED School will start on the morning of Monday the 3rd of Nov. 2014 until the afternoon of Saturday the 8th. During these 6 days, the school and the conference will be run back to back. Accommodation and meals will be provided free of charge.
